Ian Mawson KC - Senior Consultant
Ian Mawson KC is a pioneer of family law in Australia. He practised in the Family Court from its commencement in 1976, and was Chair of the Family Law Bar for seven years.
Ian’s extraordinary wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership is inimitable – a mark of distinction for the practice. He acts in a unique advisory capacity; mentoring the team to deliver better outcomes for clients, particularly in difficult cases.
Ian worked as a solicitor for two decades after graduating from Melbourne University in 1968, appearing as a solicitor advocate during that time. He practised as a barrister from 1991 to 2017 and was appointed King's Counsel in 2006 – the highest accolade for a barrister.
Ian’s expertise in all facets of family law is unparalleled. He has been involved in every possible type of family law matter, including children's matters, property, relocation and financial agreements. Ian has tremendous skill in understanding case law and statutory interpretation, and extensive experience in complicated litigation.
